There are a few questions I get asked all the time:

1. Why did I go into medicine?

Each email, message and question I get sent means so much to me. I love hearing your story. 

I had wonderful physician mentors, and none of them were women until very late in my training. Early in my career, when I met women physicians, I was constantly told that I couldn't do it all - or that I shouldn't do it all. I should pick a less demanding field. I should pick a job with shift hours so when I was off I could be "off." And to be honest, I tried that and it did not work for me. After initially matching into emergency medicine I realized that work was just work. I needed something more, I wanted something more. I wanted to play a role in my patient's lives in a more meaningful context.

And so I switched paths, redefined my priorities, and worked hard. And then I worked a little harder. And now I have a job that I love. every. single. day.

I'm starting this space to more broadly broadcast the message - you can do it. Find a passion, chase your dreams, go for it. I'm a huge supporter of women in medicine and I 100% believe that you cannot balance motherhood and medicine without loving what you do. 

I have 2 small children, navigated my own struggles with infertility, and I educate patients every day promoting fertility awareness. I am a believer in empowering women to take charge of their future, including understanding reproduction and fertility.
