Join host Dr. Natalie Crawford as she talks about reproductive rights and what my happen to IVF is abortion laws become state driven. Why are abortion and IVF linked? A draft opinion from the Supreme Court indicated that abortion rights will likely be overturned. If this occurs, many states have trigger laws in place which will immediately limit abortion access. However, what many people don’t understand is that some states also have language defining life at conception or fertilization - known as “personhood bills” and these personhood bills would place limitations on access to reproductive technology, such as IVF to conceive. Who Is Your Fertility Doctor? MUST KNOW FACTS.

Double board certified OBGYN and REI, Natalie Crawford, MD, talks all about what you MUST know when choosing a fertility doctor. One of the reasons this platform exists is to educate and empower you all about fertility. When I started instagram 6 years ago I never knew what was coming to this field. And I am a fan of innovation. I like pushing boundaries. I LOVE thinking outside the box. But the truth is that I am seeing people I care about, people with infertility - a patient population that I am passionate about helping - being deceived. I am seeing big money and practice changes that are hurting patients. I’m seeing the controversy in this field. I watch how these companies spin things. And I know that very often the consumer, the patient, YOU - have no idea. That practice is pretty and shiny with great marketing. They come up first on google. You call and schedule an appointment with a “fertility doctor” at a fertility clinic. All seems well. But then you do an IVF, you aren’t counseled right, your cycle is poorly managed, and you don’t get the outcome you are hoping for. Do you still have time to see another doctor? Do you still have the resources for another cycle? Do you still have the physical and emotional bandwidth to keep going? The truth is that you should be able to call and schedule an appointment and trust that you are seeing a board certified (or eligible) REI. However - it’s not the case at many places right now and you deserve to know the difference. So this is for you. The person who wants to understand fertility better. Who is looking at fertility doctors and clinics and trying tomato the decision that is best for them. This is medicine. Do harm harm. Patient care should always come first. But streamlining and upselling and cutting corners is quickly leading in one direction - a compromise in the quality of care that fertility patients are receiving.
